AFI announces, bewilders, and snubs 'The Departed'

The wholly irrelevent, yet endlessly entertaining, top ten list has been announced by the American Film Institute. Last year the AFI's top ten included all five Best Picture nominees, while including only three in 2004. They'll probably hit 2-4 this year.

I really wouldn't make much of the "Departed" omission, even if it is puzzling. That mild feeling of bewilderment is only accentuated when you look over the ten films and see the likes of "Happy Feet", "Inside Man", "The Devil Wears Prada", and to a lesser extent, "Borat".

Nonetheless, enjoy these. I guess. Los Angeles, Boston, and DC critics are coming later today.
