National Board of Review drops a bomb

Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima" goes from non-factor to Oscar titan in a matter of weeks.
I wish I could have told someone in October that "Letters from Iwo Jima" would be named Best Picture of the Year by the National Board of Review, "Flags of Our Fathers", "The Devil Wears Prada", and "Blood Diamond" would make the commitee's top ten, while "Dreamgirls" and "The Queen" would miss that list and only pick up an acting prize each.
Of course, if that was the case, I'd go out and buy a handful of lottery tickets tomorrow.
So, this is how the awards season begins? Consider me intrigued. I mean, I KNOW, it's only the National Board of Review. However, anyone not taking "Letters" as a serious contender now must be off their meds. Will Clint make history this season? Might the "Dreamgirls" train be slowing? Will Marty FINALLY win?!
Clint vs. Marty, Part II. Someone grab the popcorn.
